Remember when the Rangers had too many corner outfielders?

Good morning.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers had their first winning road trip of the season but, if anything, it showed them how difficult contending will be in 2019 as they actually lost ground in the Wild Card standings.

Stefan Stevenson writes that the Rangers left Cincinnati with a loss and a bunch of injury concerns in the outfield.

For example, T.R. Sullivan notes that Hunter Pence left Sunday’s 11-3 loss to the Reds with a groin explosion.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers could conceivably consider putting Joey Gallo at first base again with Willie Calhoun set to return and Ronald Guzman slumping.

Putting Gallo back at first might not be very viable anymore as, along with Pence’s aching groin, Sullivan notes that Nomar Mazara has a knee that’s giving him problems.

Stevenson writes that things don’t get easier as the Rangers are coming home today to immediately face the team directly behind them in the Wild Card standings.

C. Trent Rosecrans wrote about the father and son Delino DeShieldses coming together to compete against each other in Cincinnati yesterday on Father’s Day.

And, lastly, David Laurila of Fangraphs spoke with Rangers broadcaster Matt Hicks about a lesson he learned in being honest with his call from a man named Fat Jack.

Have a nice day!
