Lefthanded pitcher Brock Burke has been sidelined much of the year with a shoulder issue, but he made his second rehab start today for Hickory, going 5 IP, al;owing 4 runs on 9 hits (though several of the infield or bunt variety), with 0 walks and 1 K. The game had a lengthy weather delay, and thus is still going on as I type this, but as of now, in the 8th inning, Miguel Aparicio and Tyreque Reed have both homered, and Jonathan Ornelas has a pair of hits.
Former first rounder Collin Wiles was also rehabbing today, as he returns from Tommy John surgery. He allowed 2 runs in 5 innings of work for Down East, striking out 7 and walking 2. As far as bats go, Sam Huff had a double and J.P. Martinez a single.
Also rehabbing today was catcher Jose Trevino, who got a couple of ABs in for the AZL Rangers. More noteworthy from there, however, was lefty Destin Dotson going 4 IP, allowing 3 hits, striking out 7 while walking none and allowing no runs. He’s a big (6’6”) 19 year old drafted in the 12th round last year who didn’t pitch as part of he de-load program, and in his first 2 pro outings he has yet to give up a run. Alexander Ovalles has a couple of doubles tonight, and Randy Florentino, who came in for Trevino, has a single and a double.
For Nashville, Eli White, Matt Davidson, Zack Granite and Patrick Wisdom all homered. White had a 3 for 5 night and has his OPS up to 807 while playing a fair amount of shortstop and center field this year, if you want to start the Zobrist talk again.
