2019 MLB Draft: Keith Law’s mock draft is out, and with rumors flying about the Texas Rangers and the #8 pick, Keith has Texas going with what is probably the safest pick on the board at #8, West Virginia righthanded pitcher Alek Manoah.

Keith’s last mock draft had the Rangers going with Josh Jung, and as we discussed with last night’s update from Baseball America that had the Rangers taking Jung, there’s no clear consensus as to who the Rangers will take there, with Manoah, Jung, Brett Baty, Jackson Rutledge, and Hunter Bishop among the names in play.

We wrote up Manoah here — he’s a big, strong, advanced pitcher who doesn’t have huge upside, and who has reliever risk, but who is a fairly safe bet (as far as pitchers go) to be an MLB contributor.
