The game started late due to inclement weather, and after a couple of innings we were hoping it hadn’t started at all, as the A’s put a bunch of runs on the board against starter Drew Smyly and reliever Shelby Miller.

Texas fought back and made the game close, most notably with a straight steal of home by Rougned Odor, and put the winning run on base in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough to came back from the big early deficit.

Player of the Game: Peter Fairbanks made his major league debut today and struck out the side in his first inning of work, part of a 2 IP, 0 hit, 0 walk, 0 run, 3 K performance.

Up Next: Texas heads to Boston to take on the Red Sox in what is an unexpected head-to-head battle between the two teams currently fighting for the second Wild Card berth.
