Scoreless outing for Cole Winn tonight

Cole Winn threw 5 shutout innings and Joe Palumbo fanned 10 on the farm tonight

Cole Winn was on the mound for Hickory today, looking to follow up on what had been his best start of the season his last time out. Winn set a new benchmark today, going 5 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Winn threw 45 strikes in 73 pitches, and has now logged 9 scoreless innings in a row over his last two starts. Jesus Linarez threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to lower his ERA to 1.64 on the year. Kelvin Gonzalez gave up a home run in an inning of work, blowing his ERA all the way up to 1.57.

Offensively for Hickory, Tyreque Reed went 3 for 3 with a walk, and Melvin Novoa and Frainyer Chavez each had two hits and a homer.

Joe Palumbo had his second AAA start and was very impressive, striking out 10 in 5 shutout innings while walking 3 and allowing 2 hits and an unearned run. Isiah Kiner-Falefa was DHing for Nashville on a rehab assignment and had a double, an HBP and a stolen base. Carlos Tocci had a single and a homer.

For Down East, Diosbel Arias and J.P. Martinez each had two hit games.

In Frisco, Hunter Pence was rehabbing and went 0 for 3 with 2 Ks. Connor Pierce tweeted that he looked like he may have tweaked something in his final at bat, and Preston Beck hit for him in the 9th. Demarcus Evans struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of work. Emmanuel Clase struck out 3 in a scoreless inning.
