Texas Rangers transactions: Patrick Wisdom has cleared waivers and been outrighted to AAA Nashville, the team announced today. Wisdom had been designated for assignment on Saturday to make room on the 40 man roster for Pedro Payano.
Wisdom, 27, is a former first round draft pick who was traded to Texas this past offseason from the St. Louis Cardinals for infielder Drew Robinson. Wisdom had a nice (albeit brief) stint in the majors with St. Louis last year, but has not hit well in the majors or in AAA in 2019.
Wisdom will presumably play regularly for Nashville going forward, If the Rangers do not add him back to the 40 man roster at some point, he will become a free agent at season’s end.
