Keith Law’s top 50 MLB prospect list for mid-season 2019 is out, and the Texas Rangers place one player in the top 50. No, it isn’t Hans Crouse — it is center fielder Leody Taveras, who checks in at #42 on the list, between Oakland A’s starting pitcher A.J. Puk and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Keibert Ruiz.

I’m a little surprised that Keith isn’t dinging Leody more for repeating high-A, but he praises the numbers Leody has put up as a 20 year old for Down East (.294/.368/.376), which earned him a promotion to AA Frisco, where he is slashing .261/.333/.319. Leody also has 28 steals in 34 attempts and is praised for his quality glove work in center field.

Also of note...KevinWC’s love of Gavin Lux is shared by Keith, and if you were holding out hope of the Rangers’ finding a way to get Cristian Pache from the Atlanta Braves, well, that would seem to be unlikely.
