Coming into this series, the game where the Rangers looked like the biggest underdogs was today’s finale where Ariel Jurado was pitted up against Justin Verlander. Sometimes it’s the games where you think a team has little chance that they actually come out and surprise with a win. Today, uh, wasn’t one of those days.
Instead, following a 12-4 loss, the Rangers will have to settle for a series tie against AL West leading Houston.
Player of the Game: Phillips Valdez was probably the best Ranger on the field today. No offense to Phillips Valdez, but that kind of says it all about today’s contest.
Up Next: The Rangers have a day off tomorrow before opening a short two-game set against the visiting Diamondbacks. RHP Lance Lynn will make the start for Texas against LHP Alex Young for Arizona. Tuesday’s first pitch from Arlington is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
