Josh Jung, the third baseman taken 8th overall in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers, has joined the low-A Hickory Crawdads today, the team announced. Jung spent four games with the club’s AZL complex league team, torching the ball before getting a two level promotion which has him skipping Spokane.

To make room for Jung on the roster, the Rangers are promoting Hickory third baseman Sherten Apostel to high-A Down East. The 20 year old Apostel came to Texas as the player to be named later from Pittsburgh in the Keone Kela trade last year, and has gotten good review for his patient approach and impressive raw power. Apostel got off to a very slow start to 2019, but has hit exceptionally well the last two months or so, including a two homer day yesterday.
