Funny, the moment everyone kind of thought, “hey, Lance Lynn could win the Cy Young!” he went out and had his worst outing since April. Lynn was dink ‘n dunked by the D-Backs until he tried to get out of the top of the sixth inning while already over 100 pitches and something named Ildemaro Vargas made him pay with a two-run homer that made a close 3-1 game into a more dire 5-1 contest that ended up an 9-2 laugher.
Nevertheless, Lynn would have had to be pretty dang near perfect to add to his league leading win total as the Rangers mustered just two runs of offense on the evening on just five hits.
Evoking the name Cy Young when talking about anything regarding the Rangers is officially bad juju.
Player of the Game: Joey Gallo did the Joey Gallo thing by hitting a home run to dead center off a left-hander for the lone fun thing that happened for the Rangers tonight.
Up Next: The Rangers and Diamondbacks close out this brief series with RHP Jesse Chavez set to make the start for Texas against LHP Robbie Ray for Arizona. Wednesday’s first pitch from The Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
