Tonight’s baseball game was surreal from the start and then it just trudged on for hours and hours. There were 200 plus pitches thrown combined before the fifth inning ended and Texas ended up throwing a franchise record 249 pitches for a nine inning game.
Texas pitching walked 11 hitters. The Rangers also committed four errors. Three players were hit by pitches. Tommy La Stella couldn’t stand up after fouling a ball directly off his knee and was replaced. Albert Pujols hurt himself on another foul ball and limped around for the rest of the night. Eventually the Angels forfeited the DH after shuffling players off the bench.
The Rangers lost. It was a miserable affair. I don’t want to dwell on it. Hopefully baseball will be a bright spot tomorrow.
Player of the Game: Delino DeShields hit a home run.
Up Next: The Rangers and RHP Ariel Jurado will face the Angels and RHP Griffin Canning on Wednesday night. First pitch from The Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
