Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo will be returning to the Metroplex to see a hand specialist after an MRI today was inconclusive, per the beats on Twitter. Gallo is apparently headed to the injured list, with Willie Calhoun (who was sent down just last week, and who is not in the lineup for Nashville today) expected to be called up to replace him. Calhoun would seem likely to split time in the corner outfield spots and at DH with Nomar Mazara, Hunter Pence and Shin-Soo Choo, with Danny Santana and Delano DeShields manning center field.

T.R. Sullivan says the fear is Gallo has a broken hamate bone in his hand, which would mean he would likely miss the next 4-6 weeks. Gallo left Tuesday’s game due to what was said to be a wrist problem that has been bothering him lately, and has apparently contributed to his awful July. Presumably, we will know more in the next day or two.
