Danny Santana was lifted for a pinch runner, Logan Forsythe, in the 9th inning of tonight’s game against the Oakland A’s, after drawing a walk. That was an unexpected move, and it led to speculation that Santana could possibly have been removed due to a possible deal.
That apparently wasn’t the case, however — per the beats, Santana was lifted because of left calf soreness. The Rangers have an off day tomorrow, so hopefully Santana will be better when the Rangers play again on Tuesday.
More interestingly, reliever Chris Martin did not warm up today, despite the Rangers having a one run lead in the 9th. Jose Leclerc pitched for the third day in a row, ran in trouble, got up to 31 pitches, and Martin never warmed up, leading to speculation that a Chris Martin deal could be in the works.
UPDATE — Martin was unavailable due to back stiffness.
