The worst crime the 2019 Texas Rangers can commit is being is boring to watch and that’s pretty much exactly what they’ve been since they began this road trip and decided scoring runs was not going to be a part of our lives anymore.
Tonight, the Rangers scored zero runs. In the eight games so far on this nine-game trip, the Rangers have scored a total of 14 runs for an average of 1.75 runs per game. They’ve actually managed two wins on this road trip, two games they won by the score of 1-0 with Mike Minor on the mound being the unstoppable force to the offense’s immovable object.
After beginning the month with nothing but wins on a quest toward respectability, the Rangers are 2-6 on this trip and are now back below .500.
Player of the Game: Lance Lynn made the terrible mistake of allowing a run in tonight’s game so he did not win but he did strike out six in five innings. It says something that the best player of the night was Lynn having one of his shortest outings of the season.
Up Next: The Rangers and Blue Jays will finish this series in the morning with LHP Kolby Allard set to make his second start with Texas against RHP Sean Reid-Foley for Toronto. The good news is Wednesday’s finale from Rogers Centre will usher in the end for this disastrous trip. The bad news is the first pitch is scheduled for an unsightly 11:37 am CT. Ugh.
