Former UT and NFL running back Cedric Benson has died in a motorcycle accident

Cedric Benson, the former University of Texas and NFL running back, has passed away, according to reports. He was 36.

Reports indicate Benson died in a motorcycle accident in Austin, Texas. The Midland native had a standout career at Midland Lee High School and UT, and was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, going to the Chicago Bears. He played for the Bears, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers in the NFL.

Benson also had a brief professional baseball career. Benson was a 12th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001 as an outfielder, and appeared in 9 games for the GCL Rookie League club.
