The dog days are here

Good morning.

T.R. Sullivan writes about Sunday’s 6-3 loss that saw the Rangers get swept by the Twins over the weekend.

Jeff Wilson recaps the loss where it was virtually nothing but oppressive heat and depressing defense from the Rangers in the sweep.

The DMN’s Chuck Carlton has quotes from skipper Chris Woodward following the sweep on how this rough stretch is as an opportunity to learn.

Among Sullivan’s notes is an update on Joey Gallo’s rehab along with items on Brock Burke’s debut and the continued Summer of Danny Santana.

Carlton writes that Gallo is improving and hopes to suit up again this season following hamate surgery in July but he’s still got a ways to go.

Wilson notes that this week will see the Angels return to play the Rangers in Arlington for the first series since the untimely death of Tyler Skaggs.

Carlton writes about the Rangers’ plans for Burke and Joe Palumbo down the stretch where they will be getting a little on-the-job training.

And, finally, Will Leitch ponders which player will next have his number retired for each team with Elvis Andrus forecasted for next in line for the Rangers after Michael Young’s No. 10 is honored at the end of this month.

Have a nice day!
