When you are a team like the Texas Rangers, not really in the playoff hunt but also not so bad that you attract rubberneckers, you can often go days at a time without really seeing much about your squad among the national baseball sites. And then there are days like today, when there is a bunch of stuff touching on the Rangers at both Baseball Prospectus and at Fangraphs.
At BP today, Matthew Trueblood does a deep dive on Unexpected Ace Lance Lynn, looking at how a guy mostly known for consistency and throwing a bunch of fastballs has had a breakout campaign at the age of 32.
BP also has call up reports on Nick Solak, the Ranger infielder/outfielder who was called up yesterday, and on Brock Burke, the Rangers pitcher who made his major league debut in yesterday’s Game 2.
Meanwhile, David Laurila asks three South Atlantic League broadcasters who the most impressive players they’ve seen so far this year are, and Sam Huff, Hans Crouse, Hever Bueno, Curtis Terry, and Yerry Rodriguez all get name-checked.
