Vanasco terrific in low-A debut

Righthanded pitcher Ricky Vanasco has been excellent this season for Spokane, earning a promotion to Hickory, and he made his Sally League debut tonight. Vanasco was excellent, striking out 8 in 5 IP, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and a walk. Jonathan Ornelas and Josh Jung each had two hits, and Pedro Gonzalez had a double and a home run.

Frisco righty reliever Demarcus Evans had 2 scoreless innings, striking out 2 and lowering his Texas League ERA to 1.15. Leody Taveras singled.

For Nashville, rehabbing lefty Yohander Mendez struck out all 3 batters he faced. Ronald Guzman had a single, two doubles and a homer.
