64-67 - Calhoun, Santana blasts back Allard’s gem as Rangers grab 4-0 victory

The 2021 Rangers looked good tonight

Holy cow! The Rangers won a Players’ Weekend game!

One way to make those awful all whites look good is for young players like Willie Calhoun and Kolby Allard to do the heavy lifting in producing a big league win to add another spark of hope for the future in Arlington.

Sprinkle in another home run from Danny Santana, some great work from a found bullpen arm like Rafael Montero for five outs, with Jose Leclerc shutting things down in the ninth, and you’ve got yourself a real nice night for Texas.

Player of the Game: Allard had the best game of his young big league career thus far as he went 6 13 innings and allowed zero runs while working around six hits by not allowing any free passes. Allard’s ability to strikeout big league hitters so far has been impressive and tonight he earned a career high with eight Ks.

Up Next: The Rangers and White Sox will close out this series — and Players’ Weekend — with an afternoon game that will see LHP Brock Burke make his second career start for Texas against RHP Reynaldo Lopez for Chicago. First pitch in the finale from Guaranteed Rate Field is scheduled for 1:10 pm CT.
