Jason Bahr’s mid-season promotion to the Texas League was expected to be a difficult jump for the righthanded starting pitcher who came over from San Francisco last summer, but so far, Bahr has been unfazed. In tonight’s outing, Bahr gave up 2 runs (1 earned) in 5.1 IP, allowing 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 5. He now has a 3.63 ERA in 11 AA starts. Leody Taveras had a triple and a 10th inning walk off RBI single.
Down East had big nights from Sherten Apostel, who was 2 for 3 with a walk, and Bubba Thompson, who had 2 hits and 2 walks. Cole Uvila struck out 4 while walking none in 2.2 IP, and J.P. Martinez had a hit and a walk.
For Hickory, Kelvin Gonzalez threw a scoreless inning with 2 Ks. Pedro Gonzalez had a pair of hits and Tyreque Reed had a hit and a walk.
Rehabbing Yohander Mendez gave up 4 runs in 2 IP, albeit with 4 Ks. Ian Gibaut had a scoreless inning, Ronald Guzman had a hit and a walk.
