Pitcher Shane Carle has cleared waivers and been outrighted to AAA Nashville, the Rangers announced today. Carle had been designated for assignment earlier this week when the Rangers needed to open up a roster spot for Luke Farrell, who was reinstated from the 60 day injured list.

Carle, 27, is a righthanded reliever who the Rangers acquired in July from the Atlanta Braves for cash after he had been designated for assignment. Carle had a successful 2018 campaign, but struggled in the majors for Atlanta, as well as in AAA for both the Braves and the Rangers.

Carle has enough service time that he will be a minor league free agent when the season is over, unless the Rangers add him to the 40 man roster again.
