Texas Rangers transactions: Hunter Pence has been placed on the 10 day injured list with a lower back strain, the team announced today. To replace Pence on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Pence was sidelined over the weekend against the White Sox, but the hope was that he would be able to return today for the series against the Angels. The placement on the injured list can only be retroactive for three days, so Pence will have to be on the shelf at least until September 3.

Kiner-Falefa was going to be back up when rosters expand, and he will, I would guess, split time at third base with Danny Santana and, occasionally, Logan Forsythe going forward.
