65-70 - Calhoun clobbers one but the Rangers look sloppy in 5-3 loss

A couple of late runs doomed the Rangers to an ignominious loss to the Mariners

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers sure looked like a team coming back home from a two day pitstop on the west coast after a long road trip and then an immediate game tonight with no rest as they put a couple of unearned runs on Lance Lynn’s ledger after commiting a couple of costly errors.

Still, the Rangers had a chance to win this one anyway, as it went into the final frame tied 3-3, but Jose Leclerc allowed a couple of Mariners to cross the plate in the top of the ninth and Texas couldn’t match in their half of the frame as they open this series with a loss.

Player of the Game: Willie Calhoun hit one to the upper deck for his 16th home run of the season. Willie Calhoun has played in 57 games this season.

Up Next: The Rangers and LHP Kolby Allard will take on the Mariners and LHP Marco Gonzales on Friday night. First pitch from The Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
