57-54 - Calhoun and Clase team up to lead Rangers to sweep of Tigers

The Rangers finished off a season sweep of the Tigers

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers have played six times this season and the Rangers have won each of them. That’s a season sweep! My kingdom for realignment that puts Texas in the AL Central where they belong.

Player of the Game: Danny Santana and Willie Calhoun did their usual Danny and Willie things with Santana hitting a two-run dinger to put the Rangers ahead in the bottom of the fifth and Calhoun hitting a bases-clearing triple to put the Rangers ahead for good in the bottom of the seventh after the Tigers had tied the game.

Those guys are old hat though so I’m giving this one to Emmanuel Clase for pitching 1 23 shutout innings of relief in his MLB debut while pumping in his much-publicized 100+ MPH heat.

Up Next: The Rangers travel out to Cleveland to take on the Indians beginning Monday night with LHP Mike Minor set to duel RHP Aaron Civale. First pitch from Progressive Field is scheduled for 6:10 pm CT.
