Mike Minor sure looked like a guy who was happy the whole trade deadline rumor mill is now behind him. Since a complete game win in Detroit in his final outing in June, Minor had allowed 20 runs in 27 13 innings in July and was looking a little like a pitcher who was getting a bit run down after a career first half.

Tonight, however, Minor had it going against a potential playoff team in Cleveland with a fourth inning triple/sac fly combo from Elvis Andrus/Nomar Mazara being all Texas needed in a quiet night at the plate to pick up their fifth consecutive win.

Player of the Game: Minor had his best start in a month as he went seven innings on 112 pitches and kept the Indians off the board on seven hits. Minor K’d seven and walked just one Indians hitter as he picked up a win against one of the toughest teams in the American League in their park.

Up Next: RHP Ariel Jurado will make the start for the Rangers in the second game of the series against RHP Zach Plesac for the Indians. Tuesday’s first pitch from Progressive Field is scheduled for 6:10 pm CT.
