58-56 - Rangers silenced in doubleheader sweep to Indians

The Texas bats spent the day in hibernation in doubleheader loss

MLB: Game One-Texas Rangers at Cleveland Indians Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers scored two runs in this entire three game series in Cleveland and somehow miraculously still won one of the games. Today, however, they were swept in a doubleheader against the Indians where they didn’t score at all for the first 16 innings until Willie Calhoun finally connected for a solo home run to lead off the top of the eighth in second game of the afternoon.

The Rangers hadn’t lost at all this entire month thus far and then lost two times in one day. That feels like a very Rangers-y factoid.

Player of the Game: You can blame Lance Lynn as he allowed a couple of runs in seven innings where he gave up four hits, walked three, and struck out eight Indians hitters. Like Ariel Jurado earlier in the day, Lynn did enough to be a winner but the bats never bothered to show up to support him.

Up Next: The Rangers have tomorrow off before beginning a series in Milwaukee on Friday with Kolby Allard set to make his Rangers debut against Gio Gonzalez and the Brewers.
