I was remiss earlier this week in not providing updates on the Hickory Crawdads, the one Rangers Minor league affiliate still alive in the playoffs. However, the Crawdads lost the first two games of their best of five South Atlantic League Finals series against Lexington earlier this week, putting them on the brink of elimination.
Hickory staved off elimination tonight, however, beating Lexington by a score of 5-1. Ricky Vanasco started and struck out 5 while allowing no hits in 3.2 IP before walking 3 in a row with 2 outs in the fourth, prompting a call to the pen. Tai Tiedemann, Lucas Jacobson and Nick Snyder combined to allow just one run in 5.1 IP out of the pen.
Tyreque Reed went 3 for 4 with a homer and 3 RBIs, and Miguel Aparicio drove in the other two runs with a home run.
