74-77 - Rangers shut down in sleepy Sunday sweep by A’s

At least that’s the last time the Athletics will violate our beautiful Ballpark

The Rangers were swept by the Athletics today with a depressing 6-1 loss in a series where the A’s hit 11 home runs over the weekend, but the good news is Oakland is no longer allowed at The Ballpark. Ever. Officially. They will be arrested for trespassing if they so dare. Unless they want to take in an XFL game, I guess.

Player of the Game: Nothing really went all too great for the Rangers today but Joe Palumbo was able to take the mound in the bigs again for the first time since August 20 and he tossed two shutout innings with four strikeouts.

Palumbo has had a lot of minor injury false starts in his attempts to stick with the Rangers this summer so it’ll be nice if he can get a few outings under his belt in the season’s final weeks before auditioning for the rotation next spring.

Up Next: The Rangers have the day off tomorrow before opening up their final road trip of the season in their last matchup with the Astros in 2019. The opener will see the Lance Lynn take on Justin Verlander in a matchup between the American League’s best starter this season and the Houston pitcher. Tuesday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm CT.
