Felipe Vazquez, the Pittsburgh Pirates closer, has been arrested on pornography and solicitation charges

Felipe Vazquez has been arrested, with the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher being charged with solicitation of a child, providing obscene material to a minor, and computer pornography, per a report out of Pittsburgh. Vazquez reportedly “sent a message to a 15 year old girl suggesting they would meet for sex.”

Vazquez will, I would assume, be put on the inactive list for the rest of the season while this plays out, and will be subject to MLB’s off field conduct policy. That could be the least of his problems, however, depending on what happens with the legal case, which is in Florida.

Vazquez was involved in a fight with fellow reliever Kyle Crick just last week that resulted in Crick needing season-ending surgery. This is just the latest bit of drama in what has been a disastrous season for the Pirates, who were criticized by some for not dealing Vazquez at the trade deadline, given the state of the team.
