The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros are done playing baseball games against each other in 2019. These two Texas squads played 19 times this season with the Rangers winning just six of them. Worse yet, with tonight’s finale loss, the Rangers lost all nine times at Minute Maid Park. Then again, that means the Rangers went 6-4 against Houston in the final season at The Ballpark. So there’s that.
Tonight, the Rangers were done in by — you guessed it — the long ball as all three Astros runs were scored via a couple of dingers.
Overall, starter Kolby Allard pitched pretty well in his first look against Houston going five innings and allowing just a couple of runs on a two-run home run while giving up just four hits.
Where Allard wasn’t great was missing bats as he managed just two strikeouts and he was also pretty wild as the four free passes he allowed were the most in any start since joining the rotation just over six weeks ago.
Player of the Game: Ronald Guzman hit his 10th dinger of the season.
Up Next: The Rangers have Thursday off before opening up the final road series of the season in Oakland to take on the Athletics in what will also be the final series for Texas against the AL West.
