The Texas Rangers were surely hoping to avoid going out with a whimper in the final homestand at The Ballpark and tonight it looked like they might be able to get things going early with three runs in the first inning. However, after scoring those three runs, the Rangers never plated another run and the Red Sox were on their way to a ten run outburst to take the second game in this series with disquieting ease.
Texas has one more midweek afternoon game on the docket tomorrow as they look to avoid being swept by Boston before they welcome the New York Yankees to Arlington for the final series of the season.
Player of the Game: Mitch Moreland went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run as the former long time Rangers first baseman says his own goodbyes to The Ballpark.
Up Next: The Rangers close out the penultimate series at The Ballpark with LHP Mike Minor making his final start of the season against LHP Brian Johnson for Boston. Thursday’s first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm CT.
