The Down East Wood Ducks had a doubleheader today against Fayetteville as Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-five Carolina League Semi-Finals. Down East split, winning the early game and losing the evening matchup, and so they will play Fayetteville Sunday afternoon in a game that will determine who will advance to the Finals.
Down East won the early game 5-4 in extras, with Cole Uvila throwing 1.1 scoreless relief innings, and Michael Matuella striking out 5 in 2.1 scoreless innings. J.P. Martinez had a single and a walk, Sam Huff had a double and a walk, and Sherten Apostel had a single and a homer.
The Wood Ducks lost 7-2 in the second game, with Apostel homering again and drawing a walk, and Martinez also homering.
