Former LAA employee indicted in Skaggs death

Former Angels employee Eric Kay has been indicted in connection with the death of Tyler Skaggs

Eric Kay, formerly an employee of the Los Angeles Angels, has been indicated by a Fort Worth grand jury on charges connected with the July 1, 2019, death of Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs, per multiple reports.

Skaggs, in the Metroplex with the Angels for a series the team was playing against the Texas Rangers, was found dead in a hotel room in Southlake, Texas, on that day. Two months later a determination was made that Skaggs had died of a fentanyl overdose. Kay was later arrested, and reports indicated that he was alleged to have supplied opiates to numerous players, including Skaggs, over the years.

Kay has been indicted on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death and serious bodily injury.
