Abreu, Freeman win MVP Awards

Jose Abreu and Freddie Freeman have won the A.L. and N.L. MVP Awards

Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox and Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves have been named the 2020 Most Valuable Player in the American League and National League, respectively.

Abreu slashed .317/.370/.617 in 60 games while leading the White Sox to a playoff berth. He received 21 first place votes, 8 second places votes and a third place vote. Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians finished second, with eight place votes, while D.J. LeMahieu finished third and picked up the final first place vote. Shane Bieber and Mike Trout rounded out the top five.

Freeman received 28 first place votes and two second place votes, with second place finisher Mookie Betts getting the other two first place votes. They were followed by Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis, Jr., and Juan Soto.
