Good morning. Hopefully you had a nice Christmastime and that 2020 peacefully turns over the reins to our lives as we navigate headlong into 2021. Also, maybe the Rangers won’t be the worst team in the American League. Who knows.

Jamey Newberg writes extensively about how things look for a 5-year development plan at each position for the Texas Rangers.

Over at the DMN, Brice Paterik offers up five things to know about new Japanese starter Kohei Arihara.

Keith Law offers his thoughts on the Arihara acquisition where the salary commitment makes the signing a no-brainer for a team in Texas’ position.

David Laurila has notes over at Fangraphs which includes a firsthand scouting report on Arihara.

Rangers assistant general manager Josh Boyd gives some insight into why Texas was intrigued by Arihara:

And, in perhaps his last act as a Rangers beat writer, T.R. Sullivan names Nick Solak as the Rangers player primed for a breakout season in 2021.

Be well!
