Good morning, LSB.

The Rangers have hired former pitcher and MLB executive Chris Young as the team’s General Manager.

Levi Weaver (who I believe is credited with breaking the news) has quotes from Jon Daniels, Chris Woodward, and Assistant GM Josh Boyd regarding the hire. Weaver also notes that as an MLB executive Young recently oversaw on-field operations at Globe Life Field during the 2020 MLB postseason.

Evan Grant talks a bit about the Jon Daniels aspect of this and says that Young is in line to be the next to run the Rangers.

TR Sullivan has a super handy roster of the Texas Rangers’ front office.

Sullivan also has some background on Young, who attended Highland Park and Princeton and pitched for the Rangers in 2004-2005.

MLB News’ Michael Clair shocked me with the tidbit that Chris Young was in the league long enough for Joey Gallo to be 0-1 against him.

Tim Cowlishaw has a column up on Young and Daniels and has a list of Rangers’ GMs of the past as well.

Elsewhere, Fangraphs has a piece up on starting shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

And TR Sullivan answers some mailbag questions from fans.

That’s all for this morning. Have a good weekend.
