2020 MLB Draft: The latest mock draft from Baseball America is out, and like Kiley McDaniel earlier this week, the folks at BA have the Texas Rangers selecting University of Tennessee lefthanded pitcher Garrett Crochet.
We did a write-up on Crochet yesterday, which you can read here — he’s a high upside pick, whose stuff is good enough for him to go top ten, but whose lack of a track record of starting means that there are more questions than usual about whether or not he can stick in a rotation. Crochet throws in the upper-90s with a quality breaking ball, so he’s got a potential future in the bullpen even if he can’t develop the consistency, command or third pitch necessary to be in a major league rotation.
