2020 MLB Draft: The final mock drafts from Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo at MLB Pipeline are up, and both Callis and Mayo have the Texas Rangers going with North Carolina State catcher Patrick Bailey with their pick at #14.

We wrote up Bailey a month ago, and you can check that out here. He’s a switch-hitter who gets great reviews for his defense, game calling and ability to handle pitchers. His hit tool isn’t great, but he can draw walks and hit for some power.

So with the Keith Law and Baseball America mock drafts having the Rangers taking Aaron Sabato, that means all four of the major projections have the Rangers going with a college hitter from the state of North Carolina. Bailey would be drafted as a quality defensive player at the hardest defensive position, while Sabato is a strong bat who is limited to the easiest defensive position (or DH).
