So much for the positive vibes earlier this week about the possibility of MLB returning to action...
After the players responded to MLB’s proposed 60 game plan with a 70 game schedule, MLB has informed the players that it isn’t going to respond to that proposal. The MLBPA has said in a statement that the “Executive Board will convene in the near future to determine next steps”, and that the players “remain committed to getting back to work as soon as possible.
With the reports today of multiple players and staffers with different teams testing positive for COVID-19, things are going to slow down on the return front anyway while they address health issues. And with states such as Florida and Texas seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases, MLB is re-visiting the “bubble” plan they had previous contemplated, which would have all teams playing in a localized geographical area rather than in their home parks.
