Joey Gallo is back.
The Texas Rangers outfielder was sidelined at the start of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19. He subsequently had a negative test, and then another positive one, and needed to have two negative tests at least 24 hours apart to be eligible to start working out with the club. Apparently, those two negative tests have happened.
Gallo had been asymptomatic, and so hopefully he is good to go and will be ready to start mashing when the season starts in two weeks.
Brett Martin is the only Texas Ranger in the team’s eligibility pool who is in the COVID-19 protocol currently — at least, that we are aware of. Every other player in the pool has been present and working out, but a player could have tested positive in this last batch, meaning they would be sidelined as of today.
