Texas Rangers relief pitcher Brett Martin has been placed on the injured list, the team announced today.

Although the specific list was not specified, one would assume that Martin was placed on the special COVID-19 list. Martin missed the first part of summer camp because he had contracted COVID-19 and was recovering. He is healthy and working out with the team, but was not going to be ready for Opening Day.

The COVID-19 injured list has no minimum or maximum period a player can be on it, and a player does not count towards the 40 man roster while he is on the list. A player is eligible for the list if they have tested positive, are showing symptoms, or have been exposed.

Assuming that Martin is on the COVID-19 list, the Rangers’ 40 man roster now stands at 38.
