Lance Lynn was ruthless tonight. Despite the Rangers stumbling defensively behind him often, Lynn was able to get through nine innings of work on 109 pitches for a complete game victory while allowing just one earned run.
Frankly, it should have been zero but there was rarely a ball that a Rangers fielder could handle without batting it around like a seal dressed up like a clown at a circus behind Lynn tonight.
Nevertheless, Lynn is one of the few difference makers that the Rangers possess and that proved true tonight as Lynn ran his record to 3-0 on the year and dropped his ERA to 1.11.
The final line: 9 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 Ks. Masterful.
Player of the Game: The moon to Lynn’s planet tonight was Nick Solak who made two difficult plays in center field and was by far the most impressive Ranger at the dish with a 3-for-4 evening that included two doubles and a solo home run.
Up Next: The Rangers will send Kyle Gibson out to the mound on Saturday night where he will face off against RHP German Marquez for the Rockies. First pitch from Coors Field is scheduled for 7:10 pm CT.
