The Texas Rangers scored more than two runs and won! What a novel concept!
In fact, Texas scored nine runs today which was half as many runs as they had scored total in the entire rest of the season. The difference today was once the Rangers scored some runs, they didn’t stop hitting.
After going up 3-1 early, they added two runs in the top of the fifth but then the Giants scored the next four runs in the middle innings and it looked like it would be a similar story to the other games in this series where the Rangers squandered early leads.
However, the Rangers were able to reverse fate by scoring four runs themselves in the very next half inning after San Francisco had tied the game.
The Rangers have not yet won a series this season but the alternative today was getting swept in their first road outing of the year. I’ll take the win, instead. Now it is on to Oakland for — in a strange twist — the first time that the Rangers will face an American League team this season.

Joey Gallo went 3-for-4 with a walk and a double today and the three-run bomb in the seventh broke open a game that the Rangers were in danger of letting slip away.
Up Next: The Rangers once again inexplicably have a day off on Monday before opening a series against the A’s with Lance Lynn set to take the bump in Tuesday’s opener against LHP Jesus Luzardo making his first career big league start. First pitch from Oakland is scheduled for 8:10 pm CT.
