Texas Rangers transactions: Righthanded pitcher Nick Goody has been activated from the injured list, the team announced today. To make room for him on the 28 man roster, the Rangers have sent righthanded pitcher Ian Gibaut to the Alternate Training Site.

The 29 year old Goody has appeared in 7 games for Texas this year, but has just 4 IP and has faced just 19 batters. He was placed on the injured list with back spasms on August 12. He has been mentioned as a possible opener when there is a lefthanded pitcher starting, though he apparently isn’t opening for Kolby Allard tonight.

Gibaut showed flashes in summer camp and at points in the major league season, but his command has oscillated between acceptable and awful this year, and over his last three appearances, he has faced 14 batters, walked 5 of them and hit one. Only 29 of 65 pitches in that stretch have been strikes, and yesterday, he was tagged for 3 runs in the 5 run seventh inning.
