12-21 - Dingers do in Rangers in 7-2 finale loss to Dodgers

Dodgers 3 dingers, Rangers 0

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers broke the NL record for most homers in a calendar month with 57 in August. Three of those dongs came today, one in each of the first three innings off Kyle Gibson. Five in total came in this series against the Rangers over the weekend. It’s probably an upset that it wasn’t more.

The Rangers did not hit 57 dongs this month. Also, they lost today 7-2. I do believe the Rangers are now a game back of the worst record in the majors. Now there’s nothing much left to do but see how much of the team remains after the next 24 hours.

Player of the Game: Leody Taveras went 2-for-4 with a run scored today. Overall, Leody went 4-for-10 with two walks, three runs scored, his first career homer and his first career stolen base in this series against the Dodgers, otherwise known as the best team in baseball. Leody is hope.

Up Next: The Rangers have tomorrow off before traveling down to Houston to begin a series on Tuesday with Jordan Lyles set to make the start against LHP Framber Valdez.

This all assumes that the series will start on time after the Oakland Athletics announced a positive COVID-19 result while in Houston. Should the show go on, Tuesday’s first pitch from Minute Maid is scheduled for 7:10 pm CT.
