13-21 - Elvis beats Pressly as Rangers rally for 6-5 win in extras

Texas is now 1-2 in Manfredball extra innings

MLB: Texas Rangers at Houston Astros Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers were leading late but then they weren’t but then they tied it and grabbed the lead back in extras thanks to a fakeout steal of home attempt that turned into a balk to reclaim the lead and a botched throw on a bunt from Joey Gallo provided the insurance run that eventually became the game-winner.

It was a weird baseball game and one the Rangers are usually on the bad side of but instead it was the Astros wearing the clown shoes tonight which makes it all the more enjoyable.

Also, Elvis hit the game-tying ninth inning home run off a dude named Pressly which old people are going to tweet about incessantly.

Player of the Game: The young guys the Rangers are putting in the lineup in this post-trade deadline world all have question marks about their ability to hit in the big leagues. But, boy, the youngsters make for a pretty dang solid alignment defensively and nothing showcased that better than this play by Isiah Kiner-Falefa:

Except for maybe this one which momentarily saved the game for Texas:

Kiner-Falefa also went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored two runs.

Up Next: The Rangers and Astros will play the second game of this series with Kolby Allard getting the call against RHP Cristian Javier for Houston. Wednesday’s first pitch from Minute Maid Park is scheduled for 7:10 pm CT.
