The Texas Rangers scored two runs and the Anaheim Angels scored six runs.
The Rangers had their chance for their second sweep of the season today (the other came against these Angels) but it wasn’t to be as the issues Kyle Gibson has had with the long ball bit him nearly immediately this afternoon.
Angels 1B Jared Walsh hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning and that ended up being as many as the Angels needed to secure a victory in today’s finale.
The Rangers are going nowhere fast this season, but, at the very least, even with today’s loss, they’ve been taking the Angels down with them with five wins in six games against Anaheim this season.
Player of the Game: The Rangers had just four hits today off a dealing Dylan Bundy so the pickings are slim but Anderson Tejeda had two of them, including a triple, a stolen base, and an RBI, so he gets the nod.
Up Next: The Rangers welcome the Athletics back to Arlington for a four-game series with Jordan Lyles set to start in the opener for Texas opposite RHP Mike Fiers for Oakland. Friday’s first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
