Texas Rangers Series Preview vs Oakland Athletics

Four games in three days

The Texas Rangers will play a four game series over the weekend against the Oakland Athletics, including a double header on Saturday.

Friday’s game will have Mike Fiers on the mound for Oakland. The Athletics are 6-2 in games he’s started this season. He’s faced the Rangers twice this season already, giving up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and four walks in 12 innings. Oakland won both games. Jordan Lyles is scheduled for the start, in his career he is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA, this is the first time he’ll face them this year. The 1.45 ERA is his lowest against any opponent.

Saturday game one at 4:05 pm CDT has TBD listed for both starters.

Game two on Saturday has a TBD start time, with Kolby Allard starting for the Rangers. Allard faced them once this year, going 5.1 innings giving up two runs on a hit and four walks.

In the final game of the season between these two teams, Lance Lynn will start for Texas. This will be Lynn’s third start against Oakland this season. He’s 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA, giving up on three hits on eight hits and five walks in 12.1 innings. Frankie Montas will make his first start against the Rangers this season. He’s 2-0 with 10 runs (eight earned) on 25 hits and eight walks in 21 innings in his career versus Texas.
