Monday Morning Texas Rangers Update

To think, it was only a week ago that the Rangers were botching the trade deadline

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

T.R. Sullivan writes that the positive from Sunday is the Rangers hit three home runs. The negative is they were all solo home runs and the Rangers lost 4-3 to the Mariners.

Jeff Wilson writes that despite the power surge, the Rangers were felled for a fifth consecutive game.

Evan Grant writes that there have been some youngster bright spots despite Texas finishing off the worst 20-game stretch in the majors so far this season.

Wilson writes that Leody Taveras has been one of those bright spots as the lineup continues its pivot to younger players.

Sullivan notes that despite the season becoming more about evaluation of the future, Shin-Soo Choo is still playing his way into the lineup.

Wilson writes that the Rangers forgot the important virtue of knowing how to win baseball games in 2020 so they will spend the rest of the season trying to learn it.

And, finally, David Laurila’s Sunday Notes at Fangraphs cover a story from Tom Grieve about the time he was swindled out of a free car on ‘Tom Grieve Day’.

Be well!
