Shin-Soo Choo injured his right hand when he jammed it sliding into home plate in the fourth inning of today’s game between the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners. He scored on the plate, and since he was the DH he didn’t go out in the field in the bottom of the inning, but he was replaced by Eli White when his spot came back up.
Choo has x-rays on his hand, and the team indicated they were negative. We shall see if there are any lingering effects, but I suspect Choo will be back in the lineup in the near future. The 38 year old is in the final year of his 7 year deal with the Rangers, and has said he will discuss with his family after the season whether he will look to continue to play beyond 2020. With the possibility that this could be his last season, I doubt he is going to let something like this sideline him for long.
